You can use Google Forms for creating self-grading quizzes for any topic and language level.<\/p>\n

    Preparation<\/h2>\n

    • Identify your topic and level - Choose a curriculum-relevant topic and determine your students' language proficiency level.<\/li>\n
    • Prepare your quiz questions - Write down quiz questions: This is especially important if you want to make the quiz adaptive to the learner's performance. Plan which question will follow a correct answer.<\/li>\n
    • Prepare quiz set up - Consider if you want to allow learners to skip questions or submit another response in case of incorrect answers.<\/li>\n
    • Prepare additional materials (optional) - If you wish to add pictures or videos make sure you have them available on your computer or memory stick. Check copyright provisions beforehand.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Implementation Steps<\/h2>\n
        \n
      • Create the quiz<\/li>\n
      • Open Google.<\/li>\n
      • Select \u201cForms\u201d in the Google apps menu on the top right corner.<\/li>\n
      • Log into your Google account or create an account if you don\u2019t already have one.<\/li>\n
      • Open a new template.<\/li>\n
      • Click \u201cSettings\u201d in the template.<\/li>\n
      • Click \u201cMake this a quiz\u201d. Now you can define further options for your quiz.<\/li>\n
      • Release grade: Here you can choose when the learners will see their grade. Since this is a self-grading quiz, choose \u201cImmediately after each submission\u201d.<\/li>\n
      • Respondents can see: Here you can select what the learners will see. \u201cMissed questions\u201d, \u201cCorrect answers\u201d and \u201cPoint value\u201d are active by default.<\/li>\n
      • \u201cResponses\u201d: If you want to collect your learner\u2019s email address, click the Down arrow and activate \u201cCollect email addresses\u201d.<\/li>\n
      • When you are done, click on \u201cQuestions\u201d to return to your quiz.<\/li>\n
      • Insert the name of your quiz in \u201cUntitled form\u201d. If you want to you can add a description, instructions etc. right below the title.<\/li>\n
      • Now insert your first question. \u201cMultiple choice\u201d is activated by default. Below insert options for your answers. Click \u201cAdd option\u201d to add as many answers as you wish.<\/li>\n
      • Click on \u201cAnswer key\u201d to select the correct option. If you wish to add feedback, click \u201cAdd answer feedback\u201d. Select how many points you want to give for the correct answer by clicking on the \u201cUp\u201d or \u201cDown\u201d arrow on the right next to the question. If you are done, click \u201cSave\u201d.<\/li>\n
      • If you want to make this a required question, activate \u201cRequired\u201d on the right below the question.<\/li>\n
      • Add more questions by clicking the + icon on the side menu. Apart from \u201cMultiple Choice\u201d questions you can also choose \u201cCheck boxes\u201d or \u201cDropdown\u201d and your quiz will still be self-grading.<\/li>\n
      • If you want your learners to watch a video before answering the next question click on in the side menu to choose a video.<\/li>\n
      • Customize your quiz<\/li>\n
      • To customize your quiz, click on the \u201cCustomize Form\u201d icon on the top right of the page. Here you can change font sizes and styles. You can also add an image for your header. You can also choose a different colour and define the shade of your chosen colour for the background.<\/li>\n
      • When you are done, select "X" to close the menu.<\/li>\n
      • Preview the quiz<\/li>\n
      • To preview your quiz select the eyeball icon at the top menu. The preview will open in a new tab. Now you can see the quiz as your learners would. You can also test the quiz to check for errors. Please note that you will not be able to select the \u201cSubmit\u201d button at the end of the quiz in preview mode.<\/li>\n
      • If you wish to make changes, click the arrow next to \u201cPreview mode\u201d on the left of your screen.<\/li>\n
      • Share the quiz with learners<\/li>\n
      • Click the purple \u201cPublish\u201d button on the top menu. Now you can choose how you want to share the quiz. By default anyone with the link can do the quiz. If you wish to change this, click \u201cManage\u201d. If you are done, click the purple \u201cPublish\u201d button. The purple button on the top menu now says \u201cPublished\u201d.<\/li>\n
      • To actually share the quiz with your learners, click the purple \u201cPublished\u201d button.<\/li>\n
      • Select \u201cCopy responder link\u201d. This will give you the actual link that you can send to your learners. Click \u201cCopy\u201d.<\/li>\n
      • If you want to stop receiving answers, click the purple \u201cPublished\u201d button on the top menu.<\/li>\n
      • Deselect the \u201cAccepting responses\u201d slider and click \u201cSave\u201d.<\/li>\n
      • Review student answers<\/li>\n
      • To check responses, select \u201cResponses\u201d near the top of the screen.<\/li>\n
      • Summary: Here you can get a summary of all the answers.<\/li>\n
      • Question: Here you can look at the responses for each question separately.<\/li>\n
      • Individual: Here you can look at each participant\u2019s performance.<\/li>\n
      • If you want to see your data in a Google sheet, click \u201cLink to sheets\u201d on the right.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        • Adaptations for varied language levels, access needs, and cultural backgrounds.<\/li>\n
        • For mixed-level classes: Divide the quiz questions into sections to create assessments that adapt to the learners performance in the previous sections thus referring the learners to easier or more difficult questions.<\/li>\n
        • For visual learners: Add pictures or videos or customize quiz layout (font type and size and colour theme).<\/li>\n
        • For struggling readers: Add feedback for encouragement or for further explanations. You can also create a parallel quiz version that allows learners to skip questions or submit another response on incorrect answers.<\/li>\n
        • For advanced students: You can create an adaptive assessment thus increasing the difficulty level for each correct answer.<\/li>\n
        • For specific interests: Quizzes can be created for any subject, language level and target group thus catering for a wide variety of users.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
